If you have been following along you will know that we have been doing some kitchen renovations! It’s been a long process, but we are getting there. We have some big plans, and I am really excited about it. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Here are the previous posts if you haven’t been following along.
After our last post, the one side of the kitchen was complete. However, I was getting close to getting my wisdom teeth out, and we knew my hubby would be handling all 3 boys, all my tasks and his own tasks around the house. So what we decided is we would do some lighting shopping the day before my surgery, and he would finish some other tasks while we were waiting for me to heal up.
We took one day to go to a bunch of lighting stores, and had our 4 yr old with us. He declared it a very fun day….I didn’t find it as fun, LOL. It was a bit exhausting and I couldn’t take pics in the store. I am not sure why, but there was signs in each store.
The lights that came with our kitchen were kind of dim, and more suited to a bedroom. However, I think they must have gotten a deal on them, or wanted to do inexpensive lighting because we have this style through out the house. We had one in our old house and loved it, now I really want to change it LOL Hubby says it’s because we are just sick of them.
Here are our old lights:
After visiting 3 or 4 stores, we gave up and came home. We ended up shopping online since we had seen them in person and knew what we liked. A friend had recommended Canadian Lighting Experts as a place to get the lights. Of course, if you call in, you can talk to someone and they will help you get a discount. Plus they have free shipping to Canada. The only thing we found out along the way…despite being called Canadian Lighting Experts, they are NOT based in Canada.
That was a little disappointing to me, since I like shopping local, or spending money in Canada if possible, but we did get a great deal, and found some lights we liked. They have some awesome variety, and I some amazing ones for kids! We purchased them, and were quite surprised how quickly they came even though it said it would take much longer.
Here is our breakfast nook light. It’s really like an eat in dining area, as it’s where we normally eat dinner. It totally changed the look of our eating area, and shows off the skylight better…not that we wanted to show it off at that point, but you will see it later:
Where have you purchased your lights? Would you recommend them?
