I have always tried to get each of my boys a real bible for themselves to read as I think it’s important to have. But I know it can seem really daunting to a young kid. My newly minted 7 yo doesn’t have one yet, so I have been on the look out for a while to find him a great one. When I was asked to review the Once Upon a Time Holy Bible, I thought it would be a great fit. I am really glad I recieved it. Not only is it a full NIrV version bible, but it also has some full-colour inserts with a full bible story told on only four pages. The tales that it includes are:
- God Makes Man and Woman
- Isaac and Rebekah
- Ruth Finds Happiness
- Queen Esther
- Mary and Joseph and an Angel
- He Lives!
It makes the stories come to life and shows them the bible is not a fairy tale, but every story happened once upon a time! I love that it gets them engaged too. Another concept they want to teach kids is:
We all have our own tale to live and what better place to look for help and encouragement than the greatest story of all.
I know that’s something I want my kids to learn!
I was also sent the Once Upon a Time Storybook Bible which is just like a fairy tale story book with a story from the bible done on a few pages, and beautifully done pictures!!
I want to donate this to our church Sunday School teacher, as he likes to read the kids a story from the bible and then talk about the lessons we can learn from it and apply to our life. He has some younger kids and a bit older kids and I think this would be great for engaging them all.
This book holds stories about: Ruth, Abigail, Esther, The Parable of the Lost Sheep, The Prodigal Son, Mary Magdalene, and many more.
